Hi everyone!
Hope you are having a nice weekend & enjoying your new year! We thought we would take a moment to check in with you and let you know about some things going on this month here at ISSUES. We keep hearing that you never hear from us (!), so we are going to try to email you every now & again with a little update on the shop and our upcoming events. You can also check in with us on our website, http://issuesshop.com/, or on our facebook, which we check almost daily. For now, we hope you'll take a moment to read on below!!
Firstly, and most importantly, we'd love to use Valentine's Day as an excuse to tell you all how much we love you and appreciate your support! Whether we see you once a year, once a month, or once a day, we are grateful for your patronage. Thank you for keeping ISSUES alive!
We figure you may have some people in your life that you want to express your love to as well, so don't forget that Valentine's Day is this Monday, February 14th!!!! We've got tons of sweet cards and lots of unique gifts (jewelry! vinyl! journals! books! tees! and gift certificates!!) so we hope you will consider us for your V-Day needs!!!!
UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS:
* Join our neighbors at Book Zoo on Friday, February 18th at 7 pm for an evening with Richie Unterberger, local rock writer. He will discuss his book on the Velvet Underground and will give a multimedia presentation as well. ISSUES will be open next door throughout the event!
* If you live in the neighborhood, you are cordially invited to a community meeting with District 1 Councilmember Jane Brunner on Thursday, February 24th at 7 pm. The event will take place at Piedmont Gardens, 110 41st. St., in the 11th Floor Sky Room. This is a chance for all residents and merchants to express concerns and suggestions to our Councilmember and her staff. Hosted by the Piedmont Avenue Merchants Association (PAMA) with support from the Piedmont Avenue Neighborhood Information League (PANIL).
* And finally, join us here at ISSUES on Saturday, February 26th from 11 am to 3 pm for the first East Bay Vegan Bakesale of 2011! All proceeds benefit local charities, which will be announced shortly. For now, save the date!!!!
SAVE KUSF:
We're not sure if you've heard, but the wonderful KUSF 90.3 FM was sold very deceptively behind closed doors last month by the University of San Francisco without notice to the staff, volunteers, or community that the station served for 34 years.
KUSF was a unique and vital bay area institution that not only played amazing music, but also provided an outlet for all kinds of independent media groups, non-profits, and cultural entities. We are not going to let KUSF go down without a fight. Read about what's going on with the movement to save KUSF and see how you can get involved here.
