On January 18, 2011, KUSF - the University of San Francisco's college radio station since 1963 was unfairly cut from the air. Community and student volunteers who were present at the station when it was shut down were escorted out by campus police with no prior knowledge that the station was going to be closed.
In fact, no one knew - not the university faculty, staff, students, or volunteers - that USF President Stephen A. Privett had decided to secretly sell the station without a public hearing or notice, to the University of Southern California and corporate broadcasting giant Entercom. San Francisco lost a huge resource that provided music and community to many demographics of the population, not just USF students.
Nearly one year later, the FCC ruling is still in the air as to the legality of the sale, but Save KUSF is still going strong! Come protest the unfair sale of 90.3 KUSF to Entercom AT Entercom this Wednesday January 18th at 10am. We'll see you there!!!!
